REVISED GUIDELINES FOR CONDUCTING CME AND ACCREDITATION OF CREDIT HOURS

1. State Medical Councils are only empowered to award accreditation to CME’s / Workshops / Seminars / Conferences / Trainings etc.

2. The Himachal Pradesh State Medical Council shall review applications for accreditation at least seven working days prior to the proposed Continuing Medical Education (C.M.E.) programme and shall issue approval if the organization meets all requisite requirements.

3. CME / Workshop / Seminar / Conference / Training etc. may be organized by National Body or International body and other organizations such as:

(i) All recognized Medical Colleges.

(ii) Indian Medical Association (IMA) – State & District Chapters.

(iii) Himachal Pradesh Doctor’s Association (HPDA).

(iv) National Academy of Medical Sciences.

(v) Specialist Associations (National level or State Chapters).

(vi) All recognized Postgraduate Medical Institutions.

(vii) Central & State Government Organizations / Hospitals including District Hospitals and Training Centres in Health, Defence & Railways.

(viii) International conference of professional bodies.

(ix) National conference of professional bodies.

(x) State Level Conference of National Organizations.

(xi) Professional bodies of repute functioning at District, City, State Level.

Continued Medical Education (C.M.E.) / Activities to be Accredited

1. Credit hours will be awarded based on the quality of subject matter.

C.M.E. Activities Which Will NOT Be Accredited

1. CME organized by drug/equipment companies for promotion.

2. CME organized by individual nursing homes/hospitals for marketing.

3. CME organized for self-promotion/advertisement.

Credit Hours Structure

Two hours CME : 1 Credit hour

Half day CME (≥ four hours) : 2 Credit hours

One day conference (≥ eight hours) : 4 Credit hours

Two day conference : 8 Credit hours

Three day conference : 12 Credit hours

CME Observer

(i) Himachal Pradesh State Medical Council may send an observer to ensure the program is conducted as per norms.

(ii) Organizer shall pay TA/DA and provide accommodation to the observer at par with faculty.

CME Certificate

The organization shall print certificates which must include:

a) Credit hours granted by HPSMC

b) Grant letter number and date

c) Signature of Registrar HPSMC or HPSMC Observer

Fee Structure

District Level : ₹1000 per day

State Level : ₹3000 per day

Zonal Level : ₹5000 per day

National Level : ₹8000 per day

International Level : ₹10000 per day

Payment shall be made via Demand Draft or Banker’s Cheque drawn in favor of Registrar, HP Medical Council, payable at Shimla.

Note: Apply for CME / Workshop / Seminar at least one week in advance.
